Up and Coming

Recently there was a busy conversation going on in my house and Zoe made quite the funny comment in the background. Because of the clutter of the conversation, I heard it but was too involved with getting my word in to someone else that I didn't acknowledge it right away. Then Nolan said, "Waitwaitwait, did you just hear Zoe? That was funny!! I think Zoe is Up and Coming!"

Then just the other day, Zoe came up with this video. I am telling you, she wrote the script, did the costume design, directed it....everything.

Well, the very beginning, between Nolan and I, was improvised. Homie wouldn't say his part so I hurried up and said something before the door bell rang. p.s. sorry we didn't clean up the t.p. before taping.

As if that is not enough, Zoe also invented this hairdo that Noami is modeling.

It's the Braided Triple Braid. How awesome is it?!

If someone did actually invent this before Zoe did, please don't tell me. I am wanting to stay this impressed.

Not a Fat Joke

I don't like fat jokes, I declare I do not.

However this cracked me up. My 20 year old son (with not an ounce of fat on him)  has been eating quite junky ever since he was old enough to buy his own junk food whether I liked it or not, suddenly is eatin' clean. He made this decision late one night and so he onviously felt the need to get rid of what you see pictured above. I woke up to the ding dongs and note on my kitchen counter.

Does Anyone Out There Speak Harry Potter?

My kids are HUGE Harry Potter fans. I am not.

I mean, I've seen a few movies, and I enjoyed them just fine. I even did a midnight showing on opening night one time. But it was for the kids, not for me. I've seen a few of the movies but not all. I'm just not that into it.

I couldn't carry on a Harry Potter conversation.

As a matter of fact, this that I am about to show you, is over my head in a Harry Potter sort of way.

Nolan had these Ain't You Knew pictures taped to his door for a while, but after the latest Harry Potter movie came out, he took them down for this-

I don't know what it means but okay...

It was all good and dandy, not big deal. But after a week or so, he added this to the girls bedroom door-

They didn't like being called a Huffle Puff. Anyone know why?

So Naomi had a little pay back, but the night she came up with it, Nolan was running to the store to get a treat and she came to me and said, "I have this for Nolan's door but I am afraid to put it on, he might not let me have dessert." And I said, "Wait 'til tomorrow morning then."

(did I just pick sides right at that moment? Cause if I did, I was on the side of dessert, fyi.)

I don't have a clue what the big deal is with muggles, but I do know that the next morning, that paper was taken down quite quickly.

And then it went on and on again.

I thought it was over.

Then BAM! I had a Batman in framed art in my room!! And I don't like Batman, or any super heroes, for that matter!

What did I do wrong?! How did I get dragged into this war?!

I Mustache You a Question, but I am Shaving It For Later

So mustaches are all the rage.

Fads and Nolan go hand and hand. He is always in.

So Nolan's status on facebook recently was "I mustache you a question, but I am shaving it for later."

To which a friend commented, " That was so funny, I think I'll go to beard now."

Nolan replied, "Can eyebrows your computer first?"

Reply, "Nose you cannot."

And it went on and on and on. Literally, 100 comments.

Nolan has a birthday coming up next month.

What do you think of these cupcakes??

(google image)

I am thinking that I must.

What's more important, bowling a good game or making sure nobody touches your hot dog and fries?

"Send Me a Picture"

Nolan and Rae got to go to an Atlanta Braves game last week. As they walked out the door I yelled, "Send me a picture of the game!!"

They didn't. And then I was gone all weekend.

But after the first hour of church yesterday Nolan handed me the picture posted above and said, "Oh, here is the picture I forgot to send you." (on the back of a church program)

I said, "You should have zoomed in."

He said, "I did."

I take it they had the nose bleed seats.

Proud Momma

I was so proud of the picture Nolan colored in Primary and brought home.

He was pretty proud himself, I could tell, since he put the picture on the fridge.

Never mind that Nolan was suppose to be the substitute teacher and his home was a bachelor pad.

He also came home with some nice stories. Such as, "Does anyone here know who Moses is?"

A high pitched voice answers, "I know roses."

Marshmallow Skin

Forget muffin tops!

Marshmallow skin is where it's at.

Not quite up there with Nutty Buddy tips, but darn close.

Exactly as it Happened

Nolan is my current favorite child. This is why.

Sunday evening I was having one of those days. Chocolate seemed the only answer. Even though I could have convinced myself that it was just bad enough to be considered an ox being in the mire- I knew better.... But oh! The desperation!

Then I had an idea- Nolan.

He was gathered with the other children, playing a game or something, they were gathered and chatting and laughing, I was having one of those days, you remember... so I don't remember exactly what they were doing... so from a distance I got his attention and did some sign language, asking him if he had a stash of chocolate. But he doesn't understand sign language and I don't speak it, so he came to me and said, "Huh?" And I said in my most pleading voice, "Do you have any sugar? Preferably chocolate?"

And that is when he became my current favorite child....

He looked at me in the most caring and understanding sort of way, and he said, "I have just what you need, come here." And if he was the kind to hold his momma's hand, he would have taken my hand and led me the way. But he isn't the kind and he didn't.

He led me to his stash of Little Debbie Nutty Butter Bars.

He loves me.

You Ain't Knew?

Nolan has had glasses since the 2nd grade and he's never lost them because they were always on his face. I am talking from the moment he woke-up 'til he layed his head on the pillow for the night, every. single. day., his glasses were on. He was identified by his glasses. Think Drew Carey.

* Christmas tag by Nolan, 2011

However, since the summer before Middle School until now, he's been to the eye doctor to try for some contact lenses 4 times. At last, try #4 produced a non-eyeglass-wearer. I never thought I'd see the day!!

You Ain't Knew that happened?

I wondered how we'd identify Nolan in his drawings now, but You Ain't Knew he got a new hair-dothat gives him away? And a new frown (when appropriate)? And the same freckles. So here are 4 pictures (to match the 4 tries?) he taped to his bedroom door the other day. I reckon the title of this series is You Ain't Knew?

Nolan be mean- muggin' you.
You Ain't Knew? Yo boy Nolan is Sinister

.You Ain't Knew? Yo boy Nolan from da future

You Ain't Knew?

Yo boy Nolan is a turtle as well.

At the time, I thought nothing of it, but looking back on these pictures, I am thinking Nolan needs to get his hairy legs off the dining room table!!!

1/2 a Month Ago

.
.
About a half a month ago I turned 41.
.
It was a strange birthday. My husband worked and by that I do not mean that he didn't take off the day for me, or that he worked all day but we had the evening together. He had to work that night, so he had to sleep that day. So I hardly saw him at all.
.
That was kind of a bummer.
.
But here are the highlights.
.
My Zoe made me this.
How cute is that? And very artistic. It's not just stuff thrown on a wooden heart, it all works. She's been telling us that her art teacher uses her work as an example to the class quite often, and that others get their art work back where he asks her if he may display her in his class room. Zoe says, "Maybe I have the talent like the other kids." I think she does.
.
Oh, and a friend brought me flowers.

(even though I forgot her birthday. I always forget others birthdays. I am a bad friend.)
/
And the most surprising gift of all was this-

Nolan walked in from work at about 10 PM, he had bought me a little mini cake, stuck a candle in it, and had it lit when he came in all while singing Happy Birthday. And his gift to me was in the most beautiful Walmart bag.

.Wow, Nolan!! You done did good (for a 19 year old boy)!

.Do you remember that in my last post, I said my birthday was entertaining?

.That comes tomorrow.

,Not that I am trying to be difficult, but my computer/IE/Blogger is being difficult and won't let me post a video and pictures at the same time.

"I call eating Santa!"

..Last night was Family Night. First let me say that it's been a real downer having kids get older and busier and unable to attend everything they used to. We've been waiting to do our annual Gingerbread House for a night everyone was home, the closest be could get was all but 2 home. Secondly I'd like to say that it was a much busier Family Night than usual.

.First of all the big kids wanted to hit the gym all together but the little kids didn't because that means they have to play in the child care room and "that's not really FAMILY time", said Naomi. So they were bribed with cookies.

.After the gym we went shopping for a little boy who needed Christmas help. Naomi took this to heart and wanted to put some of her own money into it.

.When we got home it was decided that Naomi would wrap-

.
Zoe would make the cookies-

.

And Rae and Nolan would construct the Gingerbread House. When all were done with their jobs, we'd come together and decorate.

Nolan worked hard to not look like he was having fun.
Before we decorated the Gingerbread House Zoe yelled, "I call eating Santa!"
.
Wait 'til you see what she thinks of eating Santa. :)

And sorry about the rest.
.
We don't usually talk with our mouthes full.
Or do we and I haven't noticed until I recorded us????

Good Things

.

.Thanksgiving week was filled with Good Things for my family.

.
We attended a local Festival of Lights.

.

My boys didn't make it to the event which was a bummer but my girls got along beautifully, and that always makes for a great successful evening and a super happy mom.

And I got to try my hand at rock wall climbing. I rather enjoyed it.

They always have awesome sand art at the Festival of Lights.

And you were told reindeer pulled Santa's sleigh.....

.

We feasted with the rest of America on Thursday and Friday found us at the movies after some 5 Guys-

3D no less.
.
It was awesome.
.

By the way, need a little help with the Thanksgiving leftovers?

The Inside Scoop

.

.

This past weekend there was a meeting held in my dining room. I wasn't invited to the meeting but I overheard a little of it. And I was even asked my opinion once.

.
"Mom, isn't Tostada Armada a cool name for a band??" asked Nolan.

.
Sure is.

.

Apparently Nolan intends to be the lead singer.

.

I didn't know he could sing, I've never heard him sing. But from the notes they left behind, I think this is clearly him.

.I also didn't know that Rae could play this complicated instrument.

.
So between the little I overheard and the notes left behind, this is all I know. Tostada Armada, Nolan sings, Rae plays the triangle...
.
I'll do my best to snoop more when they meet again, and I'll be sure to update you all.

Phunny Photos

.
.
.
I made nacho's for the first time in a while and Zoe was in heaven. She went back for seconds and thirds. The next day she made her own nachos for an after school snack and this is what she did any time someone walked by.

.
Naomi was coloring the other day. She tilted the crayon box to look for a crayon and then this happened.

.

With a lot of time and patience, she has been able to duplicate this one more time.

.

.
This teeny tiny bucket of candy is what we used for the trick-or-treaters.
.
.
Zoe set it all up for me. And like a good girl, she put the treats in there that she got from her school Halloween party that she knew I wouldn't want her to consume. (In other words, non sugarfree gum. It's my thing that I am weird about)

By the way, we had left overs. We only had two trick-or-treaters. But I felt a little lame afterwards, like maybe from now on, even though I know we will get just a couple of trick-or-treaters, I should still come out with a big honkin' bowl of candy. To show that even just two trick-or-treaters count. Ya know?

.

For the past several post Halloween days, Zoe has played with her candy in this way. She'll rearrange it several times.

.

.

And lastly, I thought this was clever but Nolan did not. Wait, who died and made him the What's Funny Judge?

.

This is a two faced Jack O'Lantern. I don't know about where you live, but where I live it was hard to find a carving pumpkin. I bought just one this year thinking it was plenty and it turned out my two girls expected their very own, since that is what I did the past few years. However at that point all the pumpkins were gone. Sold out.
.
So I took both girls Jack O'Lantern drawings and combined them into one.
.
Zoe designed a nerd.
.

.

And Naomi went for a more tradtional scary guy.

.

.
Happy November, Ya'll!!
