Madly Deeply

Have you ever taken a look at my tags?
.
Over there on the left, right below my followers?
.
Truth be told, I hadn't until yesterday. And I was surprised.... but the truth is out, I apparently blog about my Zoe the most.
.
I can't help it! I am so in love with my Zoe. Is it because she's the baby? Or is it because she's just as stinkin' sweet as they come? Zoe is the huggin-est, complementing-est, squeezy-est sweetie pie I have ever met and I am sorry but that's just the truth!! She knows just when to come in and give her momma a hug and say something nice or leave a love note.
.
And I find it a complete miracle that someone SO sweet and kind and loving can come from unkind and unsweet me.
..
It's a miracle!

Yesterday I noticed something about her and it made me wonder.
.
As she participated in Field Day at school (which is nothing like Field Day was when I was in school, by the way) I noticed how she always hung around in the back of the line, never rushing off to the next event in hopes to get near the front of the line.
.
Is she just that gracious? No, you go first, I insist.
.
Is she not competitive?
.
Is it because she's the baby, the last in the family, so she's comfortable with the spot?
.
Is it because her name starts with the last letter of the alphabet? Should have named her Amelia then, it was a name I considered for her.
..
Or is it because her last name starts with a W and so she's always the last due to lining up in alphabetical order? If I am ever a teacher, they will line up in alphabetical order backwards.
.
No fair to be at the end of the line every year, all through elementary.
.
Or is it good? Does it teach them to be patient?
.
When I was in elementary school my last name started with a B and I was always near the front.
.
I am pretty impatient.
.
Last night as we talked about Field Day Nolan recollected-
.
He remembers being about Zoe's age on Field Day and the game was a dunking booth. Dunk the Gym Coach, or something. He was in the back of the line as he always was, he said, sounding a little bitter. They got to go through the line and throw the ball to hit the target, and then they'd go through the line one more time, for two throws in total. One throw each turn. By the time he was to have his second turn, everyone was running off for the next event, not sticking around to watch his second try. (something I observed happening to Zoe too) He said there was no way he was going to give up his second throw, and he yelled, "Wait, come back! Watch me dunk the coach!" But it was too late, they were long gone. He picked up the ball and started his throw, as he was noticing the coach also thought the event was over and was attempting to get down from the seat in the dunk booth. Nolan decided to throw the ball anyways and he hit the target and dunked the coach! He said the unexpectant coach was not happy and neither was his teacher, who made him go sit with the naughty kids who had to sit Field Day out.
.
Here is Zoe in one of the events yesterday-

She does seems to have fun, either way, huh?
.
But really, I think the children whose last names leave them in the back of the line- need to unite!! Sign petitions, and demand some changes that we can believe in!!!

I agree with you! My last name was Hall, so I was in the middle, and the middle child, but my birthday was in the summer so I never got birthday treats at school! Am I still bitter?

Zoe is really cute and I totally think you should talk about her more...being the baby in the family does have its advantages.

About the line...when I was in Elementary, we didn't do the alphabet stuff, they lined us up according to our height, I was one of the shortest so I was always the fourth one in line...I never liked it. I thought the taller kids were a lot cooler.

They did the alphabet in high school and I was close to the front too..again, never really liked it..eheh..being close to the back somehow made me think it's the coolest place to be..crazy uh?

That field day looked like a lot of fun. So not fair what that teacher did to your son.

The alphabet stinks! The always went by last names and mine was smack dab in the middle. So even when they "switched it up" and started with "z" I still was in the middle. Why not be original? There's a thought! OH....and I am really not bitter...not that much! lol
