Could Do it Blindfolded

Last week my youngsters had May Day at school. It's when a 5th grader is elected Queen and a girl and boy from every class, K-4 are elected Prince and Princess. Then all the classes preform a dance for the new Queen.

This year Zoe did the Mexican Hat Dance. I heard about this dance for more than a week, listening to which partners who knew the dance well and who had two left feet. One boy she had to practice with always had his feet where hers belong and almost ran her over when they were suppose to go around each other.

And Zoe practiced. Boy did she ever practice. And I had to watch her many many times. She even would practice while we were grocery shopping. She was all about the dance.

It's a good thing she practiced so much, because as you'll see in the video, her hat wouldn't stay up and kept falling over her eyes and finally- she let it be. And she pretty much danced blind and hardly missed a step.

By the way, how darling would my little Zoe look in this bucket?

It's Naomi's turn tomorrow. :)

(I think... that's the plan anyways...)

The problem is, the older kids don't do cute dances and pose for the camera... and most everything they DO, comes with "And don't you dare put that on your blog!"... but if you missed it, Nolan did write me a poem for Mother's Day. :-D

You are going to DIE when you see what our elementary school does for May Day. I will post it soon.

Hey, how do you upload a video from YouTube?

Carrie- Thanks!! And Zoe said, "yay!" to the message.

Crash- I have no choice but do use youtube.... when I got my new camera it stopped working with blogger. And facebook. Grrr. (and if I was a true techno-godess, I could fix that, right?)

No one celebrates May Day here. Not even the public schools. We didn't when I was a kid either. Wonder why some do? Why is it a special day?

Mel- it looks like something everyone celebrates differently, but for everywhere I've lived, it's mostly just celebrating Spring. Never done or seen the May Pole dance thing?
