Glass Cleaner

Years ago, back when Dateline-20/20-60 Minutes-and-Prime Time were the Reality Show of the day..... airing on TV every single night of the week because we just couldn't get enough..... there was an episode on the cleaners we spend our money on.

.

It changed my life.

.

The show took several different glass cleaners, labels removed, to people's home for them to try and tell us which one they liked most- without knowing which brand they were choosing.

.

One glass cleaner was chosen almost every time, above any other.

.

I couldn't wait, I needed to know, which brand would I be buying from here on out, knowing it was THE favorite?

.

Water.

.

I kid you not. The cleaner that had the least streaking and cleaned the nicest, was the bottle in which they put only water and a little blue coloring, to hide it's simplicity.

.

Ever since that show, a water bottle is what I use, on my mirrors and windows. It's just that simple, cheap, green and like I said, low calorie. You can spray you window and then give yourself a little mist to cool off on a hot day, all from the same product. It's awesome!

Another frugal tip:
.
What to do on School Picture Day?
.
If you haven't noticed, the prices seem to go up every year and by a lot. When you have several kids in school, it can add up.
.
Yesterday my kids got dressed up for school pictures and I decided in my frugal state of mind- I have a camera, I can take their pictures......
.

And then I decided some things need to be left for the professionals and some things are worth paying for.

Save on glass cleaner so you can afford the expensive school pictures, I say.

p.s. How did I do, Cheryl? :)

Wow, water? Really? I'll have to try that, but I'm slightly skeptical... Do you use a regular paper towel or a rag?
Cute pictures. I'd be happy to have any one of those in my yearbook!

Water. It's true. :) Now, if it's a kitchen window near the stove you fry chicken, it may not work as well, that may require a little degreaser. But your standard bathroom mirrors and window, water works as well as glass cleaner.

I use paper towels now, b/c my husband brings home paper towels from work for free. But before that I used a rag and I think it took a little more buffing b/c of lint, but it really worked just fine.

Thanks on the pictures. :-)

some rubbing alchy-hol in the water works for greasy areas...and the best "wiper"? newspaper. no lint or fibers and something about that newsprint...clean windows!

water?? really? I've heard of using a little vinegar, too. At least for mirrors.

I seem to recall you purchasing a $30.00 bottle of water(glass cleaner) because you liked the door to door sales girl. Hum helping the environment, and a teenage girl trying to stay off the streets? Good Job Low! Love ya!!!

Ma- But wet or damp newspaper gives me the heebie jeebies. My skin is crawling at the thought! haha

SM- You could, I am sure, but I promise, they only need water! :-)

Anjeny- You'll have to come back and let me know what you think.

Shaw- that wasn't glass cleaner though, it was All Purpose cleaner! haha! And it probably was about as good as water. It was a $30 donation. :-D
