How the Day Went Dow(wwww)n

Yesterday was great. Minus the getting older part.
My girls heart attacked my bed.

My mother and two sisters didn't eulogize me on our family site, like we used to do, but did this.

.
Wondering where the other siblings are on the LORINDA activity? Me too.
.
Then I got a few phone calls with Happy Birthday singing. My fave.
.
Plus several teenage boys from church was over last night so Nolan could teach them how to make taco's. (who knew Nolan knew how? I sure didn't.)
When I got home the kitchen was proof that taco's were indeed made, but they were sitting on the couch watching UFC.
I offered them some of my birthday cake but I made them sing to me first.
You reckon they went home and said, "We learned to make dinner and sang to the elderly",
with not a mention of UFC?
.
Plus I got to pick out a new book from Barnes and Noble and started reading it last night.

In the first paragraph of the book, he writes 'I do not remember to have ever met a slave who could tell of his birthday. They seldom come nearer to it than planting-time, harvest-time, cherry-time, spring-time, or fall time. A want of information concerning my own was a source of unhappiness to me even during childhood. The white children could tell their ages. I could not tell why I ought to be deprived of the same privilege. I was not allowed to make any inquiries of my master concerning it. He deemed such inquiries on the part of a slave improper and impertinent, and evidence of a restless spirit. The nearest estimate I can give makes me now between twenty-seven and twenty-eight years of age. I come to this, from hearing my master say, some time during 1835, I was about seventeen years old.'

That's when I thought that maybe the universe was speaking to me (as Crash would say) and telling me to get over the age and be grateful to know when your birthday is! (among other things!!!)

p.s. Has anyone read Revolutionary Road? If so, should I keep reading?
