Toughening Up

.

.

My girls have been working hard at Soccer Camp. And if you haven't heard, we are in the dog days of summer. A heat wave is visiting.

.

I have to say, I was a bit skeptical about signing Zoe up. (not so much worried about Naomi)

.

.Not because of the heat really (that worry came too late) but because, well.....

.She doesn't like to get hurt.

.Oh sure, nobody does. But Zoe's different. Zoe keep tabs of who hurt her ( by accident? it matters not) and how everyone within a 100 foot radius react when they see her hurt. And let me tell you, they must pour on the sympathy like a 4 year old pouring syrup on his pancakes for the very first time. Or else.

.So we talked to her about it in great detail. We explained that she WILL get kicked and athletes don't have time for a pity party. We felt like she understood. And she's done great at Soccer Camp.

.

Then yesterday she came in from playing with the neighbor boy. She was not happy with him! He hit her. With the ball! And it hurt. And he hardly said sorry at all.

.

So maybe she hasn't learned that what she learns on the soccer field could be applied in backyard play.

.

But she will, right?

.

She'll learn that lesson?

.

Right?

.

Right???

She will probably grow out of that. Hopefully she doesn't like to get revenge! :) She sounds just like my younger sister!

What happens on the soccer field STAYS on the soccer field...and does NOT apply to street/yard play. Sor-ry (=
