Maud Hart Lovelace Does it Again!

This past weekend I finished the 2nd book (but really, stories 3 &4) while swinging on my mother-in-laws swing that is set in her peaceful backyard.

And I love Maud (Betsy) even more!

I shared my thoughts on Heavens to Betsy in a previous post.

If you have a daughter that loves Ann of Green Gables, this would be the perfect Christmas gift for her. Is there a word that means sweeter than sweet? Because that's how I would describe these lovely stories. I want to live in these books, just for a day!

There is only one book left in this series (*sniffle*) with again, two stories. Betsy and the Great World and Betsy and Joe Get Married.

In real life, Maud didn't meet Joe until she met The Great World. But she did use his stories of high school for his character in the book. In the book, they have their first kiss the day after graduation. From the book-

Then he kissed her. Betsy didn't believe in letting boys kiss you. She thought it was silly to be letting first this boy and then that one kiss you, when it didn't mean a thing. But it was wonderful when Joe Willard kissed her. And it did mean a thing.

I can't wait to get my hands on the last one. But I don't want the story to end.
