I am THRIVING..... Again

Guess what I had for breakfast this morning?

You guessed it, Raspberry Cake Bars!

.
And guess what I had for my after school snack yesterday?

And for dessert?
.

Yes I did.

Delicious!

.
Warm, out of the oven, they almost had a cheesecake way about them.
.
The raspberries are the perfect amount of tart. The cake is moist.

My kids came back with "it was good" and "I ate it so fast, it must have been good" and one even said "It was exotic"- wanna guess which youngin' used the word exotic?
.

But I'll tell ya what- I am now determined to get a 15 x 10 x 1 pan. Because I am a big huge believer in a) trying a recipe exactly as it is written the first time and b) ratio's. And certainly, I threw off the cake- to- raspberry- to- crumb- topping ratio not having the right pan. It might be a whole new dessert if I do it right, as in, in the right pan, next time.
.

Tomorrow I will share with you all about Naomi defending her title as school.
.

But before I move on, let me share with you a little something.
.

When I lived out west, the houses were built around great food storage spaces. In Georgia, houses are built around swamps and ant hills with not a thought of food storage.
.

So when we bought the house we are in now, I needed a quick solution and Gary threw together some shelving in our laundry room (that would go so nicely with a chandelier, don't you think?). As you can see though, it's not deep enough and Gary won't let me hire a grocery stocker to rotate and stock my shelves.
.

Have you seen the shelves here?

Dreamy.....

Although, I would miss our growth chart that our shelf doubles as-

(and the kids comments to each other about their height... we taught them better. )

Dear Shelf Reliance,

Can you add a growth chart to your shelves?

Much Obliged,

Lo W.

you got to enjoy those yummy treats 3 different times???? no way would that happen here in my house. you'll have to tell me if it tastes any different with using the right sized pan, do the ratios make it taste different?

I still don't have completed shelves in my pantry. my man messed up a little, and there it still sits partially finished. and what is sitting on those almost finished shelves? not food, but tools and manly stuff :o(

mmmMMMmmMMMmmmmm! they look so good! yep! they could be completely different in a larger pan, but it may or may not be better...just different! i have plenty of space...i just need the "rotational" ability. but of course, THAT'S expensive! i'm workin' on it though.

Yummmmm.... Now, I just need a gluten-free recipe :) LOL!

Too funny about your growth charts. We have those on the door that goes down to our basement. I already told my husband if we ever move... the door is coming with us (and I mean it)!

Dar- I am going to be honest, when the kids got home, I hid the dessert. :) True story.

Ma- I agree. You almost want to hire someone to come stock your pantry, huh?

Sue- I've been thinking about you and the gluten issue. Yikes!

As for your door, haha!! I hear you!! I would feel the same. I love this piece of MDF and yet, it's such a jumbled mess now that in some parts, we can't tell who is who. We should have planned it better but... it just wasn't planned. :(

Great Blog! Your cooking instructions are so simple a first grader could follow them. I love raspberries and anything with them. It looks so delicious. I know you will be making it for our next potluck so we can all sample it, right??
