My Zoe (6) went outside yesterday and came back in all excited because one of her classmates was riding his scooter down the street and she found out he lived close to us. She went on to say he was her very best friend. I said, "Really, what's his name?" and she didn't know. :-) I love it. Everyone is her best friend, even if she doesn't know their names.

I on the other hand don't have a best friend, per se. I mean, my husband is for sure my very very bestest friend. But other than him, when it comes to girl friends, I can't say, "my best friend". I just can't.

For one, I feel too old to have a best friend. To me it seems once you are out of high school you are just too old.

For two, I have plenty of very close and very good friends, but how do I choose one as my 'best'?? And I can't say they are all my best friend because by definition best friend is the ONE friend who is the closest to you. The one.

I have family members that could be considered my best friends, I have a friend from elementary that I am super close to and I once claimed her as my best friend (...back in elementary school), I have a super close friend from almost every state I have lived in long enough to make such a friend.

So I could, if I was dying to have the one best friend, probably come up with one, maybe.....but it's just not in me.
