Church Basketball

Or as my darling Rae spelled it on her Facebook- baskett ball. Bless her heart, she comes by it honestly.

In my day, church basketball was tuff stuff. It made my experience on the high school basketball team look like a love fest. I mean, there was a movie made about the brutality of church ball, for Pete and Repeats sake.

But enter the church ball of today. At least where I live (nan e nan e boo boo).

The girls wear fashionable zebra print numbers with hot pink borders that they designed. The kind Bishop's wife who has 3 young youngin's (and one on the way) implements the T's.

(thanks Carrie)

(Carrie is a fellow blogger of the private kind)

(and the one I called out for not doing the traditional southern dinner for New Years day)

The church ball of today where they choose 'babes' as their mascot.
Where the basketball babes cheer each other on. I am talking, they high 5 and hug the other team when the other team scores.
When Rae's face met another girls elbow, the elbower, hugged Rae, the elbowee, as they sprinted back to the other end of the court, apologizing.

Now I love competition as much as the next person, if not more. But when it comes to church ball, there is no doubt in my mind that these girls have it right.

Oh, and Zoe made a little film for you on the way to the game.

Enjoy!

I did church volleyball and it wasn't quite intense (or athletic). We would get excited if the ball was passed back over the net after a serve.

Yeah, I don't remember church ball being that friendly when I was growing up, of course, only the boys played back in the day. I guess that would explain why it wasn't so friendly. Thanks for the shout out about the t-shirts; I'm just glad the girls liked them. Also, tell Zoe that Brooke and I enjoyed watching her moves! :)

I guess I should say that we girls did get to play volleyball, but with the boys; it was brutal! I hate volleyball to this day for that reason.

I love that church ball is so loving for you guys. It's still intense where I live... so sad... I usually have to officiate and I dread it!

Zoe is such a cutie pie!

Ma- she moves, doesn't she? ha!

Sara- I was JUST thinking about how much more fun volleyball would be. I think more would get involved too.

Carrie- that's too bad, about volleyball. It really shouldn't be brutal. :( But the shirts are great, eh??

Sandi- she's so thoughtful! haha!!

Dar- even our parents are great. Thank goodness!

Kanoe- that stinks! That's how it was here when I was growing up. I wonder what the secret is? All I know is, our girls know the secret. Thank goodness!

And thanks about Zoe. She IS my little sweetie pie!! With some moves. haha!
