Meet Mr. and Mrs.

Meet Mrs. Christensen and her HUSBAND.

Whaaaaaaa???

Do they look HAPPY or what??

It was so sweet, she was SO excited, not a bit of doubt or nervousness about her decision. She just kept saying, "He is the most handsome man I have ever laid eyes on. I love him, Mom!"

I didn't see any signs of anything different from him.

We have just had a few pictures trickle in from the photographer.

I look forward to the reception pictures, and may I say, it turned out EXACTLY as I dreamt it would. I planned most of it on my own, and I saved some for Rae to make decisions on because she has a good eye for certain things and it was JUST as I dreamed it would be. And Rae thought it was lovely and beautiful, just as I hoped.

I have no words for the relief of having it done and I am hopeful that the next one won't feel as stressful, now that I am experienced. :)

What next? Grand-babies!!!

Stress Paralyzed

I have a wedding in less than two weeks and what am I doing?
Not making these, which I need a gazillion more of.
Along with the long list of other things I need to be doing.

I am so grateful for friends who will be coming this evening to help. Or else I think I will just keep putting it off, by cleaning parts of my house that don't matter right now, organizing things that don't need organizing when there is an upcoming wedding, and blogging. And facebooking. And reading other blogs.

I feel like I am the first woman to have ever had a daughter get married.
hahahahahahahahahahaha

That is stress laughter.

Double Dog Dare

I was dared to try a cartwheel, 20-something years later. Although I will take on that dare, I don't dare share the video of my actual cartwheel. But I will share the not-so-slight exaggeration that my daughter reenacted.

Does Anyone Out There Speak Harry Potter?

My kids are HUGE Harry Potter fans. I am not.

I mean, I've seen a few movies, and I enjoyed them just fine. I even did a midnight showing on opening night one time. But it was for the kids, not for me. I've seen a few of the movies but not all. I'm just not that into it.

I couldn't carry on a Harry Potter conversation.

As a matter of fact, this that I am about to show you, is over my head in a Harry Potter sort of way.

Nolan had these Ain't You Knew pictures taped to his door for a while, but after the latest Harry Potter movie came out, he took them down for this-

I don't know what it means but okay...

It was all good and dandy, not big deal. But after a week or so, he added this to the girls bedroom door-

They didn't like being called a Huffle Puff. Anyone know why?

So Naomi had a little pay back, but the night she came up with it, Nolan was running to the store to get a treat and she came to me and said, "I have this for Nolan's door but I am afraid to put it on, he might not let me have dessert." And I said, "Wait 'til tomorrow morning then."

(did I just pick sides right at that moment? Cause if I did, I was on the side of dessert, fyi.)

I don't have a clue what the big deal is with muggles, but I do know that the next morning, that paper was taken down quite quickly.

And then it went on and on again.

I thought it was over.

Then BAM! I had a Batman in framed art in my room!! And I don't like Batman, or any super heroes, for that matter!

What did I do wrong?! How did I get dragged into this war?!

And Dat Girl Belongs to me

She's Learnin'

Zoe is the sweet baby of the family, while the other kids prank each other and put each other down (all in the name of fun, they say)- Zoe is the hugger and peace maker.

So imagine my surprise when she did this to Rae's pillow, after Rae "left her gwoss underwear on MY bed".

(That IS Rae's undewear... on the pillow)

I don't know if I should be proud of Zoe for learning their ways, or be sad.

Out of Love

I reckon I am not surprised, my daughter is fickle about boys, famous fictional characters are no exception. So when cleaning and dejunking the bedroom, Rae wanted to get rid of the posters that she once loved.

I should also not be surprised at what her 12 year old sister did with the posters that she never wanted in their shared bedroom in the first place.

Girl's Camp- 1

.

There was a new addition to our usual girl's camp spot this year.

Ducks.

And they weren't annoying at all.

While the Big Sister is Away

All three of my girls share a bedroom. (as it should be, imo)

The biggest sister is away at EFY and the younger two decided, "While Rae is gone, we are going to sleep somewhere different every night this week."

But after the first night of sleeping on the floor, Zoe decided that the floor is more comfortable than her bed (might should look into that) and has been sleeping there ever since.

What NOT to Do

.
.

When going camping at a site where alligators live....

Take it from me- don't watch Swamp People the night before the camping trip...

(but DO watch Swamp People, if you aren't currently)

Because it makes for one worryin' momma to worry all the more.

.Am I done posting about our camping trip?

.I don't know, I think I can eek one more post out of the trip unless someone begs for mercy in my comment box.

If I Participated in Wordless Wednesday

.
.

If I was a blogger who participated in Wordless Wednesday, I'd post this and say nada.

.

But I don't do Wordless Wednesday, so I'll post the above picture and say-

This is about the creepiest picture ever, is it not?!

.

Taken at the playground not far from our campsite this past weekend.

But You Knew What I Was When You Got in the Boat with Me

We went camping this weekend with family and their was a little boating.

This video of my girls in the boat with my brother reminds me of this story.

More on Rollercoasters

.
.

Ever since Naomi's trip to Carowinds, she just can't shake the rollercoasters. She's watched every possible youtube video of rollercoasters, she keeps talking about her experience on the rollercoasters, she can't wait until the next time she can ride some rollercoasters and now she's making a rollercoaster. (like, literally, as I type- picture taken 5 minuts ago)

By the way, the pink blob over Naomi's left shoulder, than would be a zonked out Rae. She got her wisdom teeth pulled this morning. It's all been kind of pathedic. Nolan took the video camera hoping for the funny moments to be caught on tape, I kept warning him that it's more sad than funny. He believes me now.

S'mores, The Indoor Kin'

.

At the time, I thought nothing of it, but looking back on these pictures, I am thinking Nolan needs to get his hairy legs off the dining room table!!!

But....

Rae may not of won a medal at the SkillsUSA contest she attended last week...

.
but she did learn a new dance titled Ride the Lawnmower....
.
And she gained new friendships...
.
and strengthened old...
,
and got free rides...

.
and she was able to hang out with the coolest woman ever....
.
and her friends watched over her and protected her like true body guards do...

.

and she got to take some really good classes on Ad Design,

.and I learned a lot (so surely she did too).

Even though she didn't come home with an official medal (Zoe snuck this one that Rae tucked into her sweater into our luggage),

I dare say she still gained a lot.

A Curse (?)

.
.
My 17th birthday stunk pretty bad and so did Rae's. Do you think there could be a family curse for the girls 17th birthdays?
.
Rae's day stunk so bad that that night, when we were gathered together, we tried to show our usual birthday love by telling favorite memories of the birthday child but Rae was in such a foul mood she wouldn't have any of it.
.
It stunk for all.
.
So on her 17 years and 1 week mark, when her mood was much improved, we surprised her with a little celebration.
.
We had a banner, balloons, a cake and sweet notes.

I love this picture, here she is listening to her daddy's memories of when she was but a wittle wee one.

Happy New Year?

I spent New Year's Eve at a dance for teens. My husband was home with the two youngest. The new year came in and the hootin' and hollerin' was hooted and holllered and I looked around and felt alone, in that gym full of 100+ people. Why? Because my husband was home with the two youngest. I went to my only kin in the room (Rae!) to tell her happy new year only to be greeted by the hand, and the words, "No, mom, stop."

Ever notice Auld Lang Syne sounds like a sad tune?

I am having a hard time getting back into reality. I want my holidays back!
